My Background
Hi, I’m Mackenzie Sutton, a proud Atlanta native and a dual-degree student at Georgia State University, pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Film and Media and Journalism with a 3.5 GPA. Writing has always been my passion, but figuring out how to turn it into a career wasn’t always so straightforward. My love for storytelling and content creation ultimately led me to explore both film and journalism through the Department of Arts and Sciences, where I’ve been perfecting my skills to bring stories to life across different mediums.
What I Do
I’m a writer who’s passionate about creating stories that connect with people or provide them with necessary information. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to write for a variety of platforms and sharpen my skills through several internships, where I learned not just how to write, but how to plan, edit, and create content that speaks to different audiences.
My main focus is news-style writing and digital media. I’m all about delivering clear, timely, and accurate stories that inform and engage readers. I like keeping my writing straightforward and easy to understand for the majority.
Besides news-style writing, filmmaking is a big part of what I do. From screenwriting to editing, I love the whole creative process. This side of my work helps me bring a fresh, cinematic angle to my writing, making my stories come alive in a unique way.
I’ve contributed regularly to Rough Draft Atlanta and The Signal, Georgia State University’s newspaper, where I worked closely with editors to create content that really hits the mark. Ultimately, I’m committed to producing high-quality work that meets the needs of both readers and clients, with a strong eye for detail and a passion for great storytelling.
